Coastal Adventures 4 Brindles Manse, Seahouses

Updated: Nov 11, 2023

Northumberland has so much to offer; it’s no wonder that its now one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations with award winning beaches, stunning scenery and both the coast and countryside only a short distance from each other. So if you’re looking for a special get away or a memory filled family adventure in Northumberland then Original Cottages who have over 5,500 places across the UK have many exceptional properties to choose from in Northumberland like the modern well positioned 4 Brindles Manse, North Sunderland near to Seahouses.

Being passionate about all things Northumberland I was delighted to get the opportunity to take another Northumberland staycation this time with Original Cottages, having previously staycationed in Bamburgh and Holy Island, this time I was excited to stay in North Sunderland which is just a short stroll from the village of Seahouses and a couple of miles from historic Bamburgh.

Seahouses Harbour, boat trips available daily to the Farne Islands

So our bags were packed (for all weathers) and the CC crew including the pawesome ‘twins’ were on their way to… Seahouses! Well North Sunderland. North Sunderland is a quiet peaceful location and positioned just on the edge of the fishing village of Seahouses which is only a short stroll away (or a regular bus service the X18 is available to transport you around the coastline should you need it). Seahouses offers a really good variety of local amenities including restaurants/bars, shops, cafes, takeaways, a leisure facility and of course a choice of fish & chip shops where locally fresh caught fish and seafood can be enjoyed in the Harbour just minutes away.

So back to North Sunderland the location of our accommodation, 4 Brindles Manse. As we arrived at the property where we were staying we couldn’t help but be impressed by its beautiful stone built exterior and end of terrace private location with its own allocated parking and an EV charging point. It’s also worth mentioning at this point too that both the pre arrival and departure information from Original Cottages was very detailed and most helpful ensuring a smooth arrival and departure. Although we had no problems during our stay, knowing that we could speak to a member of the Original Cottages team at any time during our stay if one did occur, gave us peace of mind.

4 Brindles Manse is a modern 3 bedroomed (sleeping up to 6), 2 bath roomed property with a spacious open plan well equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher and complimentary eco-friendly cleaning products), perfect for gatherings of both families or groups of friends. Also to the rear a very generous sized utility room with washer and dryer perfect for post beach trips.

Back to the kitchen where there was a generous welcome hamper filled with locally sourced products from Ringtons which went down a treat

The double doors from the kitchen open onto a roomy lounge area where there was ample room for us and the two dogs to relax after their beach walks (there are so many dog and family friendly beaches along the Northumberland Coast, the nearest being Seahouses just minutes away). The porch area just off the lounge is handy for storing beach/outdoor wear, and the additional downstairs WC is very beneficial.

A well equipped modern open plan kitchen/dining space

The living/lounge area has a flat screen tv (with Sky TV package and Netflix), a PlayStation, and free Wifi which was very reliable and even an Amazon Alexa, handy for getting weather updates and tide times when planning your days out. There was no fire in the lounge but we weren’t troubled at all by this and found the central heating more than adequate to keep us cosy throughout our stay.

So much to do close by to Brindles Manse, North Sunderland and lots of local advice on hand with Original Cottages advisers based in Seahouses

Moving to the upstairs the three double bedrooms were all extremely well presented. One with en suite and a good sized family bathroom with bath and over bath power shower and plenty of storage room for your toiletries (eco friendly welcome toiletries were supplied). I loved that the bedrooms had skylights too, perfect for looking at the Northumberland dark skies at night. All rooms had plenty of inbuilt wardrobe space, wall mounted TVs and provided with quality towels and crisp white bed linen all immaculately clean as was the rest of the property.

Outdoors there is an enclosed garden and courtyard area with patio furniture and a BBQ, and more than enough storage for water sports/cycle equipment if needed as well as indoor storage space in the garage. Also I noticed a high chair and travel cot if required, as well as stair gates at both top and bottom of the stairs, and two dog crates supplied. As the garden was fully enclosed we were more than happy to

let the dogs Lola & Louie enjoy relaxing there after bounding around on one of the many beautiful local dog friendly beaches just minutes away on our days out.

4 Brindles Manse really is a perfect base to enjoy Seahouses and the surrounding Northumberland Coast and Countryside, with the Cheviots only half an hours drive away, Holy Island around 40 minutes, and award winning beaches such as Bamburgh and its historic Castle just minutes away there really is something for everyone.
